Back by popular demand, we will be staging another 2M Simplex Sprint on the evening of August 22nd from 1900 to 2100 hours. This fun contest is open to any licensed amateur and requires only a radio capable of operating on the 2M FM band. This is the same band we use for our weekly nets, so no fancy equipment is required. The objective is to contact operators in as many different Zip Codes and on as many different Simplex frequencies as possible within the two hour window. Frequencies to be used are: 147.420, 147.440, 147.460, 147.480. There is a category for both mobile and fixed operation.
Work as many different calls and Zip Codes as possible. Work each station once per Zip Code. Mobile stations can re-work stations whenever they change locations, i.e. move to a different Zip Code.
The exchange is: call sign, contact number, and 5 digit Zip Code. Mobile stations use the Zip Code of their location at the time of the contact.
More details and sample log sheets will be available at the ARES/RACES meeting on August 13th. Join in and have fun! Click the links below to view the documents.
